On Tuesday 23 June, Barking and Dagenham Neighbourhood Policing officers carried out a day of action in and around Dagenham Heathway.
The day started bright and early, with officers in plain clothes targeting shoplifters. This resulted in the arrest and charge of a prolific offender, who will be attending court in the coming weeks. A Community Protection Warning was also issued. Numerous officers were deployed in the morning to locate and arrest wanted offenders, resulting in a man being arrested for immigration offences. Officers also carried out a business engagement event, visiting shops and businesses in the area. Any issues raised were noted and will be addressed in the coming weeks.
PC Seaward delivered a knife crime prevention presentation to local school children, highlighting the dangers of knife crime.
PCSOs Randall and Sullivan, from Village Ward, were joined by colleagues from the London Fire Brigade and the local authority Anti-Social Behaviour Team on a crime prevention stall in the Mall. During this time, they provided first aid to a gentleman who had recently suffered a stroke. He was subsequently treated by the London Ambulance Service and conveyed to Queen’s Hospital.
PCSOs Matthews and Dainauskas carried out a weapons sweep of Dagenham Heathway, including the surrounding service roads and Millard Terrace, with a negative result.
Inspector Ian Handley said: These operations are about more than enforcement; they are about listening to local concerns, building trust, and ensuring that residents feel safe where they live and work. I would like to thank our officers, staff, partners, and members of the public who continue to support these efforts.”
